I’m an independent science journalist and a contributing correspondent for Science, based in the Gold Rush-era township of Coloma, California. Living in a town of 500 people might bore some people, but I’m easily amused.
From 2012 to 2016 I covered neuroscience, mental health and medical ethics as a staff writer for Science in Washington, D.C. In 2018 I was part of a team that received the National Academies Keck Futures Initiatives Communication Award for a package of stories on human migration – my story was about mental health among Yezidi refugees from Iraq. When I’m not writing, I like to mess about in boats.
